Sparkle and Shine: Christmas Light Displays to Visit in Bristol, Hampshire and Wiltshire

The festive season is here and there’s nothing quite like the magic of twinkling Christmas lights to get everyone in the holiday spirit. If you’re looking for fun family-friendly outings this winter we’ve rounded up some of the best Christmas light displays across Bristol, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

Bristol

Bristol comes alive at Christmas with plenty of dazzling displays and festive events for all ages. Don’t miss the Bristol Christmas Market in the heart of the city centre featuring over 40 festive stalls, seasonal treats and live entertainment. For a scenic stroll the area around the Clifton Suspension Bridge and surrounding Clifton Village is lit up with beautiful illuminations and is perfect for family photos.

Hampshire

In Hampshire there are several enchanting displays perfect for little ones and adults alike. Visit Marwell Zoo for Glow Marwell a winter light trail through the zoo combining a day visit and an evening of illuminations. From Friday 28th November 2025 you can also book Christmas at Marwell Hall which includes free zoo entry and a festive light trail.

Wiltshire

Wiltshire doesn’t disappoint when it comes to festive sparkle. Head to Salisbury Cathedral for its family-friendly Christmas trail and craft activities amid the cathedral’s lights and decorations. For a full evening adventure Longleat hosts the Festival of Light lantern trail from November to January with illuminated animals, lantern sculptures and a festive Safari drive.

  • Dress warmly as evenings can be chilly especially for little ones
  • Arrive early where possible to avoid queues and get the best vantage points
  • Some displays are ticketed and run on specific dates so always check in advance and book online if needed
